Jun Sekino is considered one of the great Japanese printmakers of the 20th century. A master of Sosaku Hanga, the Creative Print movement, he is especially well known for portraits and rooftops. Sekino's images of roof tiles as a symbol of Japan...for Japanese-ness are characterized by his own decorative style of naturalism. His work placed a greater emphasis on pattern & design after 1950 from which he garnered wide acclaim in the U.S.

We cannot date this print exactly, but we do know that the present owner purchased it in the early 1960's. The print does have some wrinkling and creasing and tape residue from matting.
