| The following information was taken from the original web listing of this artwork. Note that there may be some inaccuracies:
This is an original modern Japanese woodblock print by Kaoru Kawano (1916-1965) titled "Sacred Crane D". The print is sealed in the image, pencil signed by the artist below the seal, titled in English and Kanji, and edition 31/200. This print is in very good condition. Fine impression, color and bleedthrough. Extensive use of silver mica throughout the image. No foxing, toning or folds. The print is not laid down or trimmed. There are several printing creases in the margins caused by the application of mica to the image. They do not affect the image. "Self-carved self-printed" tissue tag still attached to the verso. Image size is 9.5" x 22.5", paper size is 12" x 23.5".

| Artist Bio: |
Kaoru Kawano was a very popular artist, known for his distinctively styled depictions of figures, especially children. He uses the woodgrain patterns to render the textures and the mood to his works. Double-oban-sized prints are almost always limited-edition lifetime strikes that are pencil-signed, editioned, and titled by Kawano himself. There are rare later editions that have stencilled titles, which I believe are posthumous strikes. Large-oban-sized scenes with a pencil-signed signature (usually within the printed area) will be lifetime editions signed by the artist, while unsigned prints with a black round seal on the verso will be posthumous strikes.
