Subject: From Hokusai's legendary series Fugaku Sanjurokei. He depicts here the famous Pine tree in the garden of Ryuganji, the Zen Temple built at Harajuku. A group of visitors chatting at a picnic in the foreground. In the corner a man points out the view of Fuji san rising through the mist to a small boy. The pine copse at Ryuganji was a famous vantage point to view Fuji in all its majesty. |
