Kuniyoshi The Wisteria at Kameido A Tour of Edo's Famous Products Kameido Tenmangu Shrine is famous for its wisteria bowers. Hiroshige created a famous print of this site, and here the Kameido Tenjin shrine is shown in the ivy shaped sub-picture (the same shape as Kuniyoshi’s seal!), and the center of the composition is dominated by a large rendition of one of the waitresses at the tea shops at Kameido Tenmangu Shrine. Here she is see blowing up the fire with a bellows bamboo tube. Her earnest gaze, breath-drawn cheeks, all are filled with sense of agile movement. |
